8:30 am – Practical  Slip Resistance for Aged Care
Peter Emmerson

Designing with sufficient levels of slip resistance is often poorly understood – we demonstrate the consequences of getting it wrong. Changes to standards and handbooks include a number of significant new recommendations including:

–  The effects of wear and usage on slip resistance

–  BCA changes including residential

– Definition of Wet, Dry and Transitional Areas

– Limitations of various AS test methods

– Benefits of certain AS test methods

The pendulum test apparatus will be set up and practical demonstrations will be included. Attendees are welcome to bring an item to test.  Metz has delivered this presentation and similar to hundreds of designers and architects throughout Australia

9:40 am – External Cladding: BCA Requirements for Fire Safety
Harriet Peel

This presentation is intended to educate designers on:

–        External cladding regulation in the Building Code of Australia, including recent changes and associated literature) relating to
external combustible cladding

–        The realistic risks posed by external combustible cladding

–        Fire Test Methods associated with external cladding

–        Role of the Fire Brigade in reviewing external combustible cladding

–        How fire safety engineers can assist with the cladding design of new and existing buildings

10:50 am – CSIRO – Sound Absorption Comparison of Different Acoustic Materials
Geoff Beilby

In this presentation, we will be discussing the CSIRO study comparing Sound Absorption Data for different acoustic materials (Acoustic Melamine Foam, Acoustic Polyurethane Foam and Acoustic Polyester) at different thicknesses. Additionally will be comparing sound absorption data which compares baffles to acoustic panels.

Testing to:

AS ISO 354-2006 “Acoustic – Measurements of sound absorption in a reverberation room”

– AS ISO 11654-2002 (ISO 11654:1997) “Acoustic – Rating of sound absorption – Material and system”

12:00 noon – Dincel Construction System
Alex Rosovick

Fast, Cost Effective, Waterproof Permanent Formwork

In this presentation you will learn about how walls and columns built using the Dincel System can be constructed for lower cost in less time than by traditional masonry and concrete and are straighter, safer, more durable and require fewer skilled workers. The system produces a non-brittle, water proof structure for internal and external walls in all types of residential, commercial and industrial buildings. It results in high strength elements with fire, insulation and acoustic capabilities of the highest rating for a wide range of long lasting, maintenance-free buildings.
